Full of Activities

Fun Fun Fun

It has been a full week!  May is a busy month in our family.  Mother's Day and 3 birthdays keep us pretty busy.  We also have been spending lots of time on our back porch.
Mother's Day was a typical day for me but it reminded me how special it is to be a mom.  The Big Guy had to work so me and the kids went to church and then had McDonalds for lunch.  Yes, I said McDonalds.  Just one thing to remind me again that I am a mommy.  We came home and enjoyed some relaxation when I suddenly realized that I really needed to go grocery shopping.  Another thing that reminded me that I am a mom.  Someone had to go get milk.  So after grocery shopping, I did some laundry.  So see, it was not the Mother's Day that Hallmark writes about but it was a day that reminded me that I am really a mom 24/7.  We ended the day at my in-laws for a yummy cookout and I did not have to cook!!!!!!
So all these things that I did on Mother's Day is so worth it because of the smiles and love I receive from my kids.  And here is a sweet smile from the little guy.

Fun at the Park

So moving on to the next special time.  We spent the morning at a park with some friends.  The kids enjoyed a fun morning of playing.

Mommy Turns 40

And then Mommy turned the big 40!  It was a beautiful day outside. The kids and I enjoyed playing with friends in the backyard and then they treated us to lunch.
I also got to celebrate on Friday night with my husband and some friends.  It was a fun evening.

Pupcakes (Keenan's word for cupcakes) with School Friends

Keenan celebrated his birthday with cupcakes at school.  Daddy got to come and be with us.  Always a special treat when Daddy is there.

It is Party Time

And then it was time to celebrate both birthdays with a party.  The kids were excited to share their party with each other.  We had a few friends over and Ms. Cotton came to sing along with us.  As a mom, I love planning the kid's party.  I think one reason why I love having their parties is because I remember how my mom always made my birthday special.  It wasn't a big bash or anything....just family and friends.  It was about being together and celebrating the day.
Happy Birthday Bailey and Keenan.  I am proud to be your mommy.

Daddy enjoyed watching the kids sing in the backyard.

It was special to have grandparents there to help celebrate as well.  Paw Paw enjoyed singing the songs.

Proud Grandmothers....Gee and Maw Maw

Keenan liked having his sister's friends there.  He especially likes the girls.  He may be asking to come to her parties when she turns 16.

Bailey loved all the instruments that Ms. Cotton brought with her.

Some Backyard Fun.

We enjoyed having Ms. Cotton and her pink guitar.

I think Bailey is ready to go with Paw Paw to the next Blue Grass Festival.

Strawberry Picking

Yesterday was a fun day with Bailey's preschool class.  We went strawberry picking and to a farm.  The kids picked some yummy strawberries.

Keenan enjoyed the strawberries as we picked.

Down on the Farm

Baa Baa Baa....that is what we heard when we pulled up to the farm.  There is something about a farm that makes you relax.  I could have spent all afternoon there.  One of the teachers at Bailey's school lives on this farm.  We were able to enjoy our lunch outdoors and everything a farm has to offer.

Love Being a Mom

Lots to Celebrate!

With Mother's Day tomorrow and my babies turning 2 and 4 in the next 2 weeks, there is lots to celebrate.  Mommy is also turning 40!!!!
Motherhood is hard to put in words.  It is the most exhausting job that I love doing.  I think back on my life before I had my children.  I look at life different now.  I love looking at life through my kid's eyes.  They see things that I have not noticed in years.  Like being able to see the moon in the daytime.  God has definitely used them to show me things about myself that I never realized.  They have brought so much joy to my life.
The days can be long and just when you think you are going to break, they say something so cute or run and give me a hug or tell me I look "bootiful".  And it is all worth it.

It is hard to believe that they are about to be 4 and 2.  Where did the time go?  They are at such a fun stage right now.  We have spent lots of time on the back porch and playing in the yard.  Somehow Bailey can play in the dirt and still come out clean.  On the other hand, Keenan can be outside for 5 minutes and be covered in dirt.  They truly balance each other out.  God knew what He was doing by giving them each other.

These are a couple of pictures I took the other night after dinner.  We like to eat on the porch and hang out after dinner.  As you can see Bailey is all relaxed and Keenan is full of smiles.

Happy Mother's Day!

The Surprise Was On Me

Well the surprise was on me.  The unexpected happened....the stomach virus hit.  YUK!

Now for the photo surprise....

There was a tractor behind the flower stop.  The ladies were so nice to take the kids to see the tractor.  They were so excited to see a real tractor.  Never underestimate photo props.  The big tire made a cute photo opportunity!  I can't take credit for it.  The flower lady scooped up Keenan and put him in the tire.  I think the ladies were having more fun than I was.

The Unexpectant

Don't leave home without your camera!  You never know when you may come up on a photo opportunity.
There is a new flower shop/side of the road stop/not sure what to call it, near our house.  It is a really cute garden shop outside.  They opened a couple of weeks ago and I have been wanting to stop.  So when we drove by it today, Bailey said, "Oh Mommy, look at all the pretty flowers.  Can we stop today?"  I turned the car or should I say the MINIVAN (never thought I would drive one of those) around and shopped around.  It was great.  They had planted pots, lots of hanging baskets and wagons to pull the kids in.  After we walked and purchased some ferns, I asked the lady if I could take some pictures of the kids.  Thankfully, she did not think I was a freak.  The ladies were so sweet and actually helped me with the kids.  One lady was a grandmother so you know she was all into it.  She even picked a few flowers for the kids to hold.  The kids were loving it.  Here are a few pictures from our unexpectant stop and come back tomorrow for the big surprise....

So here is another unexpectant picture.  I had my camera today with me at Bible Study because the kids were singing to the moms today.  They were so cute with all their songs.  But you know how those pictures turn out....not so great.  Sweet moments but pictures were not that great.
So as we were leaving, I was taking pictures of Bailey (Keenan was at home) outside against a wall.  Nothing fancy but thought it would make a nice backdrop.  So as I am clicking, my friend Janie is putting her kids in the car.  Janie likes her camera just as much as I like my camera.  She came over and took some pictures of us.  Ok Janie, you did not tell me my hair was standing straight up.  :)
Just having fun!

And you know I had to turn one into B&W.

Ok, come back for more photo adventures with Bailey and Keenan.

Egg Hunt and Spring Festival

The kid's school had their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.  This year went much better than last year.  Last year, the chick-fil-a cow was there and Bailey was terrified.  This year no cow.  And it was so sweet because she was asking lots of questions about Jesus and Easter and heaven.  It is hard to explain to a 4 year old when she ask if Jesus was going to be at the egg hunt.  Question after question she asked, which I am so thankful that she is asking the questions.
So this was Keenan's first experience hunting eggs.  Once he caught on that there was candy in the eggs, he was on a mission.

He was having so much fun.

And Bailey was relaxed knowing that there was no chick-fil-a cow.  Last year, these pictures were of her screaming.

Treats for everyone!

Keenan in the bounce house.  He was grinning from ear to ear.  And screamed when his turn was up.  One of the young helpers had to go in and get him because he would not come out.  Always a proud moment when your kid is the one screaming. :)

And Bailey showed us her strength.  I just have to say, I really did not think she was going to be able to do this.  She said, "Mommy, let me try."  So I said go for it.  She is just not usually the athletic one....just like her mommy.  Anyway, she had to pull and I mean pull herself up using this rope.  The picture does not really show what she had to do.  But by golly she did it.  Scott and I were screaming, "Go Bailey Go."  I know the other parents probably thought "What is the deal with those two."  But she surprised us both.  She was so proud of herself.

Once she got to the top she got to slide down.  She loved it.  You go girl!

It was a fun family day.  The kids had so much fun.  Bailey got in the car and said "This day has been a special day."  That will make tears come to a mommy's eyes.

Happy Easter

Jesus Has Risen!
What a wonderful day it was.  We started off Easter morning with Easter baskets and then headed to church.  I was able to get a few shots of the kids before we went to church.  I had to work quick because they were wearing all white.  I wasn't too worried about Bailey getting dirty but Keenan is a magnet for dirt...just like all little boys.
Finding Easter baskets on the front porch.

I will say this morning, the photos were all about Keenan.  He was just looking too cute in his outfit....thanks to my friend Christy!  She sends me the most adorable clothes out of her kids closets.  It is very rare that Keenan is dressed up so I had to take full advantage.

This is Keenan attempting to go in the backyard where the slide is and "MUD".  And I am talking mud.  We have somewhat a drainage issue around the slide.  Anyway, back to the pictures.....He is pointing and wanting to go back there.  Mommy's eyes got big accompanied by a big fat NO.

Ok, this is my favorite picture.  They look so sweet.  However, I did not post the next picture showing Bailey pulling Keenan  and him screeming.  Oh well, one sweet moment in time.

My honey even took a picture!

Ready for Church

Ready for church!  Last Sunday I was able to snap a few shots before church.
The kids love going to church.  Bailey loves Mr. Brian!  And Keenan loves "Mrs. Armen (Carmen)".  Their teachers are so sweet and always welcome them with a big smile.
