Conversations

I just had to share a conversation that Bailey and I had yesterday.

Let me preference this story with....
A few weeks ago we were at a toy store.  Bailey was bouncing on a kangaroo toy.  She really liked it and asked if we could take it home.  I told her not to get the gimmies but maybe she could ask for it at Christmas.  She has mentioned the kangaroo several times and says that when the pumpkins are gone, and Thanksgiving is over then it is Christmas.  Oh...it is going to be a long 3 months for her.  I love her excitement and anticipation.

We have also been reading the book Jesus' Miracles.  She loves the miracle when Jesus made the waters calm with he was in the boat with the disciples.  B does not like big waves so she thinks it is wonderful that Jesus told the wind to be calm and the water became still (or quiet as Bailey would say).

So here is what she said yesterday...
Bailey: Mommy
Mommy: yes
Bailey: I could ask um Jesus (long pause).  Hey Mommy, remember the kangaroo yesterday (her word for any past tense whether it was 3 months ago or 2 days ago) at the toy store.  The one I was bouncing on.  Remember.
Mommy: Yes, I remember
Bailey: Well I could ask Jesus (as she is holding up the book) for the kangaroo for Christmas.

It was just so cute how she said it.  I am not sure if she considers getting the kangaroo as a miracle or she got her wires crossed about Jesus and Santa.  But either way, I smiled because she is learning that Christmas is about Jesus.

A Cold Morning

The weather yesterday morning felt so good.  It was a cool morning so we had to bundle up for school.  I love the changes of seasons.  It always gives me a burst of energy.  I love how God designed the seasons, well at least in our area of the country.  (Tyree, I thought of you this morning.)  My sister-in-law loves cold weather and she lives in Florida!  So Tyree, you can shut your eyes and imagine the cold weather.

And to be truthful, I could not wait until the weather got cooler because I had bought Bailey and Keenan cute little jackets.  Now I know in the scheme of life, this is not important but they are cute.

I bought Bailey little jacket this summer while we were at Bald Head Island.  A lady on the island makes them and sells them in the shop.  I love to find unique things like that.  And Keenan looked sharp in his little fleece vest.  I always thought if I had a little boy I would "priss" him up in the little sweet outfits.  But K's personality just does not fit that.  He is more a blue jeans kind of boy.

I know you can't tell in this pic that B was excited about going to school.  She was concerned about the wind.  So many little fears!

And Keenan was upset because he wanted to watch a movie in the car, which we do on trips.  We went to Charlotte last weekend so he does not understand why he can't watch movies now.  So many little lessons!

So now that I have talked about the nice and cool weather it is suppose to be warm next week.  So I guess we will hang up the jackets.  And I am going to end this post because I have no idea why it is underlining everything.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Another Try at Digital Scrapbooking

Last week I went to Digital Scrapbooking Boot Camp.  Heather (the most creative person!) opened up her house and taught several of us how to do digital scrapbooking.  It is the coolest thing.  She gave us so much useful information and showed us step by step how to create a page.  I had given this a try before using an on-line tutorial but it took me forever to figure it out.
These pages are simple (but remember I am a simple kind of girl) and of course my colors...black and white!  Can't wait to print them and see how they turn out.

Ok, don't ask me why I put 22 months on Keenan's page.  He is only 15 months old and not even a year old in the picture.  How did I come up with 22 months?  And I can't correct it because I already merged my layers .....oh such photoshop elements language.  However, since it is digital I will just do another layout!  How cool!

Ordinary Decorating

Ordinary Decorating Brought To You By Boo!

There is lots of fall decorating going on in houses across America.  Blog land is full of ideas.  Check out some of the blogs if you want some ideas.  I don't know proper blog etiquette on listing other blogs so excuse me if I have not followed the Emily Post way of doing things.   Nester cracks me up with her humor.  My real friend Gretchen at New Every Morning has her own take on fake greenery.  I love looking at the pictures at The Inspired Home.  And before you know it, you will click your way through blog land and find some really cute ideas and some "oh my...what were they thinking?" ideas.

The first picture is for my friend Amy at My Bambino Bliss.  She was looking for ideas for the top of her armoire.  Amy, here is the basket I was talking about it.  I like it but the picture makes it look skimpy.  As my friend Dawn would say (hey Dawn!) "It needs to be Substantial."  And Dora on the tv adds a little decor to the picture.  What can I say...these are our ordinary days!

I bought this urn back in the summer at a cute shop in Wake Forest.  The shop is in an old house and the couple lives upstairs.  How cool is that!  That would be my dream is to own a little "Boo" shop, as Scott would call it, and live upstairs.  In college, my roommate and I lived on top of a store on the town square.  And our other friend's boyfriend, now husband, lived across the hall.  Let's just say we had lots of fun.  We were like one big family and still are when we all get together.  Now back to the decorating....I love white pumpkins.  So do you think they are real or fake?

My sweet girl loves to decorate like her mommy.  Look, she has decorated our kitchen windows.  Most of the time, I love these ordinary days!

My favorite find!  I wanted an old chalkboard for a long time.  I searched the internet for an old schoolhouse chalkboard.  They can be quite pricey!  And then one day I was at the Flea Market and there it was!  $35 was the sticker price...which I probably would have forked out.  I really wanted it!  However, I thought I would try to get it for a lower price.  $25...SOLD!  Not sure how the hubby would like it.  He is such a good sport when it comes to "My Finds."  So it sat in my craft room for a long time until I decided where to put it.  Now it hangs in a little area beside my kitchen.

Just an iron thingy with lots of brown stuff dumped in it.
So that's it!  Just some ordinary decorating.  Nothing fancy because I am not a fancy kind of girl.

Photo Date with My Little Guy

I had a date with my little guy.  He didn't want to take his morning nap this morning so I changed him into a cute little outfit and grabbed the camera.  He had fun sitting in the chair.  However, when I went to grab his binkie he tried to get down.  The ground was still wet from all the rain we got.  I didn't want to mess up his new outfit...it's just too cute.  We moved from outside to the deck.  Oh, he did not like that.  He loves to be outside.  So I bribed him with a lollipop.  Only the second child would get a lollipop at the 15 months.  I would have NEVER done this with the first child.  So here are my pics from our time together today.  It was fun spending time with him while Bailey was at school (she did great today!).  Oh, it was a bad scene when I took the lollipop away.  Screamed and through himself on the floor.  Quite a todo!

So grab a lollipop and enjoy the small pleasures in life.

Give me that binkie!!

Mmmm...yummy...my first lollipop.

This is the best thing I have ever tasted.

You are not going to take away, are you?

If you have been tagged by me, list 6 unique things about yourself, link back to my page and then go tag 6 of your favorites.  As you can see, I did not follow the rules and I only tagged one person.

Have a great day.  It is rainy here which makes a great day to be inside and play around (i.e. decorating, organizing, etc...you know all those homey (is that a word?) things to do)

School Days

What a fun and busy week.  The kids started to school this week.  Yes, little guy is going a year earlier than big sister.  Tuesday was Meet the Teacher Day.  The first two pics were taken right before we went to meet the teacher.  Keenan would not have anything to do with taking a picture with his lunch box.  It was quite funny.  Bailey kept telling him to be still that mommy wanted to take a picture.  They had fun meeting their new teachers.  Keenan's teacher asked me was there anything she needed to know about him.  I said, "All I can say is that he is all boy."
Bailey was excited about meeting her new teachers.  She was quite wired.

So Thursday was the big day.  The kids did great when I dropped them off.  I had a few tears when I got in the car.  Then I turned on the radio to K-LOVE.  They were talking about christian organizations on college campuses.  They started off by saying "If you just dropped your child off to college for their freshman year..."  My mind jumped several years to Bailey going off to college and then the tears came.  I had to quickly dry my eyes because I had a dr's appt.

Mommy's morning was nice and I had such a peace about them being at preschool.  I did not worry about how they may be doing, etc.

When I picked Keenan up the teachers were smiling and said he had so much fun.  They said he loved his little music class.  He danced, clapped his hands and was smiling from ear to ear

Bailey did great.  She was a little sad in the morning but they said she got over the hump.  She was dancing and smiling ear to ear when I picked her up.  She did a handprint for me.  It reminded me how much she has grown since last year.  A few of her friends from last year are in her class.  And the big thing that she was excited about was that she talked at school.  Last year, Bailey would not talk at school and it became a little game at the end of the year.  The teachers tried everything to get her to talk but she would just smile and nod her head.  So last night at dinner she says "Guess what mommy?  I talked today at school."  She was so proud of herself.

It is so great to see growth in the kids.  It is great to look back and see God's faithfulness and how He carries us through all challenges (small and big) and then to give us a little token to remind us how He has answered so many prayers.

K- "I'm not having anything to do with this"  B- "Keenan you need to listen and be still"

"I'm out of here"

All ready to go!

Off Shore Fun-Final

I always buy a little something new for the kids when we go to the beach.  This time it was balloon rockets.  Pam, remember the ones I sent your boys for their birthdays?  Well I send my apologies!  Oh my goodness, I did not realize they were loud.  However, they were fun.  Bailey had fun pumping up the balloons.  Daddy was really good at making them fly high in the sky.  We left a few on the roof of the house.  Our little guy was sleeping during the fun.

Such deep concentration!

Not sure who had more fun....Scott or Bailey

Oh my, it is way up in the sky!

Ok, these two are just alike.  Scott was hooked on a game on his I-phone.  (Why do I feel the need to say "I-Phone" instead of phone?)  He taught Bailey how to play, which meant he had to share his toy. :)  Their minds work alike.  I love to see so much of Scott in Bailey.  I get tickled to myself.

Ok, we did actually make it to the beach and get sand in our toes.  As you can see, Bailey is not too sure about the waves crashing behind us.  Her arms were flapping like a bird.  She does this when she is excited or scared.  She flaps so much that it looks like she is about to take off and fly.  Little guy loved the waves and getting his toes wet.

So that ends my pics from vacation.  We had a great summer and hope you did too.  Now, I look forward to cooler weather.  I love how God gives us the season to remind us we have seasons in our own life.  I hope the next season for you brings great joy.

School starts Thursday.  So if you think about it, say a little prayer for the kids that they transition well.
